One thing, in LGBT groups I attended 20 years ago, 'internalised homophobia' was offered to LGBT folks themselves, as a way of explaining negative introjects (beliefs and perceptions) we'd picked up from society about not fitting in. It was for our own personal development and benefit, not directed at others.
