Queer has taken over and colonized the LGB community and used them as cover to promote their plague. Everything in SF is now queer, there is no mention of gays or lesbians, The library did queer history programs before Pride which was themed ,"Queer Joy is Resistance". I'm an aging straight married guy who has been in SF over 50 years and am clear this is not what Harvey Milk had in mind.
"No man chooses evil because it is evil. Rather he mistakes it for happiness, the good he seeks". Mary Wollstonecraft
Cuckoos come to mind….their are no limits to Queer colonisation….thank you for your comment and Mary Wolsencroft quote…compassionate….Socrates comes to mind…the idea that no one knowingly does wrong; all wrongdoing is due to ignorance
Really important challenge to the war on childhood, Sue. Thank-you once again for brilliant insights. Yes, indeed time to restore sanity & safeguarding. Perhaps we need a one-two punch kind of approach though? Punch one is restoring sanity safeguarding by providing resistance & counter-narrative education like this article. Punch two is where we go on the offensive because we might need more than a restorative approach. I think the institutions and individuals who are complicit are actually committing very serious crimes for which they need to be held to account. Satan's little helpers, the lot of them
Thank you for your comments Deborah…with regard to punch two…some litigation has been successful….legal precedents are mounting…the Free Speech Union is having a lot of success…is this the kind of offensive you are thinking about or do you have some other ideas? My intention is a narrow one…to encourage trainees and practitioners to express their views…to know that there is legal and emotional support for that…and to model it….
Thanks for this article. I would suggest that parental authority and sexual boundaries are not only Western values; they are near-universals for human flourishing.
We can find examples of tribes which groom children for sex with elder men, or ancient civilizations which practiced ritual human sacrifice, but what they all have in common is that they were subjugated by more successful cultures with at least some ethical principles. Filial piety is a key component of traditional Chinese culture, for instance.
What queer theory aims to do is destroy the boundaries which help society function, perhaps as the revenge of people who consider themselves 'oppressed' by that society. But this theory comes from the comfortable place of elite academia, not the actual oppression experienced by prostituted, feminised men in Brazilian slums and Thai tourist resorts, or the women required to submit to sadistic domination all over the world. It is a top-down political posture, not authentic liberation from below.
You make excellent points here Daniel, thank you. ‘Near-universal indeed…’Western values’ is an understatement.
Queer theory, as you say, is not grassroots inspired, it is elitist but seductive…whilst claiming that particular demographics are oppressors and taking action on behalf of the oppressed (did anybody ask them to?) they themselves are oppressing a majority, confusing and endangering our young, and using gaslighting to intimidate. I do hope this critical, destructive sub-culture is subjugated by a more successful and ethical one…
This is the great battle of our times – protecting the sanctity of childhood and the natural, organic emergence of the individual, unique adult, through ordinary adolescence. Unfortunately we are surrounded by many – particularly in our institutions – who are too stupid, too wicked or too scared to see it. It is a time to stand up and be counted – the next generation depends on it.
I share your sense of urgency Lucy…young people’s developmental confusion and anxiety are being exploited…our professional bodies could not care less…deaf to our concerns….pressure is mounting…as you say, there’s too much at stake to stop now…keep up your very good work
I’m planning to run for my school board to attempt to start a discussion about why developmental psychology— the classic wisdom version— must be restored to its rightful role in education and curriculum design. Could we talk offline sometime? And any other psych professionals who would be willing to advise me on which texts to cite are welcome to message me, too!
Thank you for your comment Mollie….i’m happy to meet online…I’ll message you privately…I have at least one person in mind who is better informed than me…I have contacted them…my next post, to be published on Saturday, discusses how a child development lens is urgently needed to be restored in therapy (applies to education too).
